The name of this application might mislead you into thinking that it can convert only MDI files to PDF documents. MDI2PDF Converter can actually do much more than just that. It can be used as a simple viewer and it can also convert to and from a lot of other formats, such as JPG, BMP, PNG or TIFF.

I like the fact that its interface resembles more the interface of a document editor than of a converter. MDI2PDF Converter lets you load a MDI file or an image file of another type and then view it while also being able to zoom it, rotate it or quickly jump to one of its pages, if it’s a multi-page MDI or TIFF file. By choosing to export the loaded file to a PDF document or to another image file you perform the actual conversion of that file. Anyway, a handy separate batch conversion function is also included. This function enables you to convert multiple files at once to PDF, TIFF, BMP or JPEG.

Another aspect that I appreciate a lot about this utility is that when you choose to export files to another format, such as to PDF, you can also perform some basic text and image editing operations such as blurring the image, adjusting the brightness and contrast levels, choosing the JPEG compression ratio, and more.

As you can see, this tool offers a lot of advantages and I haven’t even yet mentioned the fact that it allows you to convert only separate pages of an MDI or TIFF file to another file format. Though MDI is a rather rarely-used file format, this tool is good enough to worth being used even for converting common image files such as JPEG or TIFF to PDF.
